My New Button

Though I’m currently in the thick of finals preparation (and wondering why I ever thought four classes in my first quarter would be a good idea), my actual classes wrapped up this week. On Thursday, I attended the last session of Commercializing Innovation. Taught by one of our school’s highest profile professors (and a pioneer in venture capital & private equity), this class focused on the “strategy and tactics of forming, acquiring and growing new ventures.” Essentially, we spent a quarter learning (and putting into practice) the rigorous analytical and evaluative processes behind VC/PE investments.

While I could write at length about the lessons learned through the 10+ hours per week spent on this class alone, the major takeaway from this course is best expressed in the form of a button, which was distributed by the professor to all of us students and is now firmly displayed on my backpack.

  1. There’s a nasty rumor that those buttons have infiltrated our campus too…UH OH.
