You bite your tongue. I know you don’t watch baseball, so I will let this slide. The true dark period? End of Jan, beginning of March. All there is then is the NBA (ick), some hockey (eh), and college bball (ok!). September and October are my favorite months of the year, by far.

Re Michigan: I was thinking the other day that the parallels between 2007 Michigan and 2006 Notre Dame are unnerving. Much preseason hype for a flashy offense that wields household names by college football standards, but a defense that no one can quite assess yet. This same offense has historically underperformed slightly (more to conservatism/DeBord and Hart/Manningham injuries) which is being overlooked because this looks like the big year. Oregon = Georgia Tech; Notre Dame = Georgia Tech; Penn State = … Michigan?

I’m not being a pessimist, just pondering and preparing my psyche.
