We didn’t do the whole show, but entered a performance of “Shoeless Joe (from Hannibal, MO)” into a State competition. One of the funnest performances ever.

I hear ya. Somewhere out there exists a video of me doing a poorly choreographed dance to “Who’s Got the Pain” from “Damn Yankees” (featuring the brilliant lyrics “who’s got the pain when they do the mambo? who’s got the pain when they go UGH!”) wearing black pants, a pink tutu, a baseball jersey, and an old lady wig topped off with a carmen miranda-style fuit hat.

Hahaha – yeah, I left out ‘Crazy For You’ because I wasn’t really a cast member, just an extra. Plus, I couldn’t find any pictures that had me in them.

I am a little upset that “Slap that Bass” was not mentioned-we were the best couple even if we were in the back and cracking up the entire time-All I have to say is… “I hate this part.”

High-school directors have always been at the forefront of non-traditional, colorblind casting. I, the black girl in drama club, had my musical debut as Grandma Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof when I was 16.

Thanks for bringing up such strange and – despite the odds – heart-melting memories.
