Cowabunga!

The last couple of months have seen the release of some teaser trailers for upcoming movies, all of which have me yearning for a Click-like remote to fast forward to Summer 2007.

First, there’s Transformers: The Movie. The teaser doesn’t reveal a whole lot, but the fact that this exists is enough to bring back childhood memories for any guy within 3-4 years of my age. I’m going to go ahead and assume this will be good.

Then of course there’s Spiderman 3, currently in production. You’ve got to be living under a rock not to have heard about this one. Generally, I’m skeptical about sequels of sequels, but holy bejeebers check out the the trailer for this one. The guy who made this kinda makes me want Tobey like Heath wanted Jake (or did Jake want Heath? I dunno, I didn’t see the movie).

And then there’s the trailer I just found. I have no clue how long this movie has been announced for, but I just found out about it today. I’m writing this and I’m still in shock that this is really going to happen. This was one of my favorite shows growing up as a child. I used to race home from school to watch it. I’d force my parents to eat Pizza Hut every week so I could collect the toys, games, cassette tapes, and videos they’d give out with pizza purchases.

I need only three letters to tell you what movie I’m talking about.

This isn’t some 1991 cheesy, poorly-made, Vanilla-Ice-featuring, live action flick. This is a 21st century fully animated blockbuster. If you didn’t click the link for the trailer above, click it now. I can already picture myself in a theater, sitting in awe at Leonardo’s leadership, admiring Donatello’s technical prowess, snickering at Raphael’s crudeness, and giggling to the point of nearly peeing my pants at [my favorite turtle] Michaelangelo’s antics. (Like I almost did today. Am I the only one that didn’t see the last part of the trailer coming?)

I can’t wait for next year. Be still my dorky, dorky heart.
