Despite having a full-time, decent-paying job, sometimes I am still a cheap bastard. I’ll do almost anything to save a buck. This past weekend, I went with some friends to The Met, where the “suggested donation” for adults is $20.
I decided to play the “student” card (suggested donation: $10) and borrowed Rishi’s student ID before going to the counter. And since Sebby hadn’t met us there yet, I figured I’d go ahead and grab his ticket.
Lady: How can I help you?
Me: Two student tickets please.
Lady: OK, that’ll be $20.
Me: Here’s….$7.
Lady: Uh, all right.
Me: Its all I’ve got.
Mind you, this was after taking a car service there. Yep, I rolled up to the Met in a shiny black Cadillac and proceeded to hand them a whopping 7 dollars.
Dollars saved: $33
Dignity: -4 billion

That’s gold! I never pay for the trians in Edmonton. I’m originally from Ontario and the cost of transit is built into you tuition at most schools. I’ve only been stopped 1 time for not paying, and then I start rambling in French and explain that I’m from Ontario, whip out my ID and then they take pity on me and let me ride the rest of the way for free.
