A man, a Plan, a Canal, David Palmer

(WARNING: This post contains somewhat of a spoiler to the Season Premiere of 24 which aired last night. If you have not had a chance to watch it yet, and are planning to, do not read the post below.)

(WARNING #2: If you do not watch 24, you have significant risk of developing a brain tumor from never stepping out from under the gigantic rock you’re living under.)

This post is to pay homage to the man – nay, the legend, Former President David Palmer.

You had quite an amazing life, Mr. President Sir. When we first met you, you weren’t even President yet, but someone wanted you dead. Thats messed up on its own – but you went through even more after that. Your wife went ape-shit in more ways than I can try to count, your sidekick sold out on you, your cabinet voted to relieve you from your post, someone tried to kill you again with ‘hand poison’ (what ever happened with that by the way?), and even after your Presidency was over you were called into help lead the country. And somehow, during all of that, you also managed to sell car insurance. I don’t know how you did it.

We learned so much from you. Things like courage, honesty, integrity, leadership, friendship, and the definition of Swoop and Squat.

Then, in a flash, you were taken from us. So many questions go unanswered. Who did it? Why did they do it? Why on earth, if you were a former President who has been the target of many assassination attempts, would you openly stand in front of a big ass window? We can only hope for answers that may never come.

So goodbye, President David Palmer. We will miss you, but we know that “you’re in good hands.”

P.S. Michelle Dessler, the cleavage was nice and I was hoping to see more this season. Such a shame to see you go. R.I.P.
