Wow two posts in one week!

I had probably one of the funniest phone discussions with my dad yesterday (see a picture of him a few posts down). Some excerpts:

Me: So what have you been up to this week?
Dad: Nothing much. Well…..I fell off the ladder a couple days ago.
Me: WHAT?! HOW?!
Dad: I was painting in the kitchen and tried to step off the ladder onto the counter but missed.
Me: [Very concerned, but also slightly amused] HOLY CRAP, ARE YOU OK?!?!?!
Dad: Yeah yeah, I’m fine. I’ve got a couple bruises on my butt though.
Me: Um…alright….

……

Me: So what are you going to do this weekend?
Dad: Oh not much. Some Uncles* are coming over to hang out.
Me: Hang out?
Dad: Yeah, we’re having kind of a boys’ night. [Yes, he said boys']
Me: Hahaha….boys’ night? Hahahaha. Who’s coming over?
Dad: [Names of a few Uncles]….we’ve been trying to have one for a while.
Me: That’s hilarious. A boys’ night!
Dad: Yeah I bought all this booze yesterday! I don’t know who’s going to drink it.

[*Uncle is an endearing term in Indian culture for an adult man, similar to "Mr." in American culture.]

Dad: Oh, I forgot to tell you one thing. [Serious tone] We got a call from Canada.
Me: Um….[4 years of college cycling through my mind, trying to recall if I ever did anything in Canada that finally caught up to me]
Dad: So you know how they have this Jain Directory?
Me: Oh God…
Dad: Well, we got a call from someone asking about you.
Me: You’re joking.
Dad: No I’m not. Someone from Toronto found our info, saw your age and called about you.
Me: Dad why would you put our info in there?
Dad: Its a religious directory! We have to be a part of it!
Me: So did you tell them I’m not interested?
Dad: Yeah…but if I gave you her phone number, would you call her?
Me: You took her phone number?!
Dad: They gave it to me.
Me: I’m not calling someone who combed the Jain Directory looking for a husband!
Dad: Why not? She’s a CFA!
