Quote of the Moment

June 16th, 2005 · 1 Comment

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I’ve been wrapped up in other things since my last post. Here’s something that I have been meaning to post for some time. Stay tuned to the blog though, because there’s a story in the works that you are NOT going to want to miss.

———————————-

A couple of weekends ago, we went out to some club to celebrate some friends’ birthdays. Right after we walked in, we ran into a girl from Michigan who was in town for the weekend. I wasn’t much more than acquaintances with her at school, and hadn’t since her since before graduation a year ago, so when we ran into her, my roommate (who knows her better than me) initiated one of those Hey-I’m-not-sure-if-you-guys-have-met-before” introductions. We both nodded in that knowing way and I responded with “Yeah we were all in Jamaica last year” to make conversation. She responded with

Yeah we know each other. I’ve read your blog…its so funny!

That’s not even the quote of the moment. Learning that people I barely know have heard about my blog through their friends is not something that really phases me anymore. That shit is so May 2005. In the last few days, I’ve been able to gather web statistics about my blog readers, and you’d be AMAZED to hear how random internet browsers around the world are stumbling across my page. But I digress (I’ll post more on that subject later)…

Anyway, after a few minutes, we all kind of split up to get drinks and say hi to other people. I strike up a conversation with one of the girl’s other friends who lives in NYC and I know a little better. I can’t remember what I said, but it made her laugh. The next thing I know, the first girl pops up and says

What happened? Did he say something funny?!

My jaw dropped. This girl (who I barely know) was wondering if she missed out on me saying something funny! I’m pretty sure she left another conversation mid-sentence to come find out what I said.

Honestly, I think you guys think WAAAY too highly of me. Last week, a friend of mine called me the Indian version of Bill Simmons, a compliment which might be undeserved (but that I hope is never retracted!)

Talk about pressure!
